Although perianal warts andd condylomas are not so common among people but what is more important is that their incidences are increasing and they remain undiagnosed largely as because they are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), which is transmitted from person to person by direct contact. HPV is considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Anal warts (also called “condyloma acuminata”) are a disease condition that affects anal region both inside and perianal skin. First appearing as a small spot in perianal region, they may grow fast and may involve whole of perianal skin. They cause pain or discomfort to the affected individuals and at times patients are totally unware of the fact that they are harbouring anal warts. Some patients will experience symptoms, such as itching, bleeding, mucus discharge and/or a feeling of a lump or mass in the anal area.
